Lieutenant Jeanette Davidson of the Klamath County Sheriff’s Office reports that a masked suspect entered the Family Food Center in Chiloquin shortly after five Thursday afternoon…
“A female suspect had used a pellet-type gun in an attempt to rob the food center.”
Lt. Davidson notes that the suspect is then alleged to have taken a 16 year old boy hostage…
“In the course of the robbery, a juvenile male entered the store, and the suspect took control of him, held him against his will.”
Davidson adds that a store employee then took action against the suspect…
“And in order to prevent any further danger or violence, she used a personal stun device against the suspect, subdued the suspect, and held the suspect for law enforcement.”
Police arrested 21 year old Shoshanim Faye Brown on charges of first-degree robbery and kidnapping, she’s jailed with bail set at $200,000.
Klamath County Sheriff Tim Evinger cautions that while people have a right to defend themselves, he doesn’t encourage store clerks to challenge robbers…
“The woman who attempted to rob the store also grabbed a juvenile who was in the store, and was holding him hostage – and it was absolutely the right thing to do to make sure that nobody was hurt.”
No one was injured in the incident.
First-degree robbery is a measure 11 offense, carrying a mandatory 90 month prison sentence.
