Update: NBCNews.com is reporting two Powerball Jackpot Winners – One in Arizone, One in Missouri
Update: The lucky numbers are: 5, 16, 22, 23 and 29. The Powerball number was 6.
Overnight the record Powerball Jackpot climbed to an estimated $579,000,000 and today people rushed to get in on the game, some who have never played the lottery before were feeling lucky.
In fact, lottery officials tell us that Powerball tickets were selling at a rate of 131,000 a minute.
The Ray’s Marketplace in Jacksonville was swamped. That’s because it has paid out in the past. Two multimillion dollar winners in 2005-2006.
There have been 16 straight drawings since Oct. 6 without a jackpot winner, that brings us to tonight. The second largest Powerball Jackpot in history.
Lottery officials in Florida drew the winning numbers just around 8pm pacific time.
