Ashland Commission May Lose Up To $1.8 Million To City Fund

The Ashland Parks and Recreation Commission may soon be forced to transfer over half a million dollars to the city’s general fund.

Some officials say that changes need to be made to the department’s budget so that it doesn’thavesuch large reserve.

Under the new proposal the department would be forced to give up anywhere from $650,000 to $1.8 million of it’s reserves.

City officials say Ashland residents would not notice a difference in their parks but the change would free up cash for other government areas.
