Gold Hill Must Upgrade Sewer Treatment Plant or Face Fine

The city of Gold Hill could soon be slapped with a heavy fine if upgrades aren’t put into the city’s sewer treatment plant.

The Oregon Department of Environmental Quality sent a notice to the city giving them until the middle of December to draw a plan of bringing the sewer treatment into compliance.

The city has failed a number of quality standard tests since March.

But city officials warn an upgrade to the facility could mean an increase of $50 to $60a month in sewer rates for residents.
