Veterans Recognized in Klamath Falls

In Klamath Falls a crowd of several hundred braved temperatures in the 20’s this morning to honor veterans. NBC 2’s Lyle Ahrens has the story.

Even on a cold Sunday morning, the people of Klamath Falls turned out for Veterans Day. A holiday that Klamath Falls takes very seriously.

“I think there’s a lot of veterans that live here, both retired, and you have your Kingsley Field,” said David Hicks.

“I would say it’s probably due to the demographics. It’s rural Oregon, the conservatism, and demographics basically,” said Alex Fugate.

“That, and we have the active air guard here, training of F-15 pilots,” stated Ron Ballard.

Following a parade down main street, a brief ceremony was held at Veterans Memorial Park and for many vets, the day provides time for reflection on the cost of freedom.

“I’m proud of this country and I’m proud to have served this country. Kind of brings out the feelings deep down, you know, with what’s going on.”
