Astatewide scam has on taxpayers on edge.
The Oregon Department of Revenue is warning taxpayers of a major scam,trying to obtain your personal and financial information.
Anumber of taxpayers have reported receiving phone calls and e-mails from someone posing as a tax collector.
The caller tells the person that they owe the state money, and asks them to wire a payment immediately to clear up their tax issue.
But the Department of Revenue says they never ask a taxpayer to wire money to any destination, either within the United States or to a foreign country.
Officials at the department say you can call the agency directly if you are unsure if a call or e-mail is legitimate.
That number is 1-800-356-4222.
