Hurricane Sandy To Strike East Coast Monday

Preparations are underway for the approach of Hurricane Sandy.

Hurricane Sandy is currently a category one storm.

The hurricane is moving parallel to the shore and is expected to make landfall somewhere along the New Jersey coast Monday.

Forecasters fear the storm could run into a cold front, leading to days worth of wind and flooding.

Those fears have governors from South Carolina to New York making preparations and declaring states of emergency.

Evacuation shelters are open, and emergency crews are prepping for the worst, knowing that flooding and power outages are likely.

The New York Subway System, the stock market, as well as all New York schools are closed.
