Springfield, Oregon, is the inspiration for the Simpsons hometown.

Creator Matt Groening spilled the beans during an interview with Smithsonian magazine which was published late Tuesday.

In the article Groening, a Portland native, says he was inspired by the television show “Father Knows Best,” which took place in a place called Springfield.

However, it is important to note that Groening has given false answers about the Simpsons’ hometown before, so some are still wondering if this is the real answer.
