More than $10,000 is available tonight for anyone who can help Ashland Police solve the murder of 23-year old David Grubbs.
With leads slowly drying up in their investigation, A-P-D is hoping the increased reward will bring in additional tips… and the reward isn’t done rising.
“I had heard that somebody had indicated to the family that they were going to donate $5,000. If that happens we’ll announce it when it happens.”
Grubbs died on November 19th after being attacked on the Central Ashland bike path.
A-P-D has so far looked at hundreds of leads, beginning with the most promising… yet 2 and a half months later, police aren’t close to identifying a suspect.
“It looks at least at this time that there is a pretty strong possibility this is a random event. Mr. Grubbs was simply at the wrong place at the wrong time.”
Only one detective is currently working the case full time, but if promising leads come in, they’ll have assistance.
That’s where Chief Holderness is hoping the reward will come in hand.
“There still might be people who haven’t heard of it and sometimes money does inspire people.”
And at this point in the investigation, they’ll take assistance from the public any way they can get it.
