Thousands flock to Sunflower Festival

(NTV) Sunflowers are helping breath new life into the town of Sayo, Japan.

People have been flocking to the town to see the nearly 1.3 million sunflowers in bloom during the Sayo Nanko Sunflower Festival.

Many of the nearly 100,000 visitors enjoy taking photos against the sea of sunflowers.

Organizers seed the fields at different times to ensure that flowers are constantly in bloom for the event; the flowers typically bloom for little more than a week.

This year the festival runs until August 2nd.
