Dry dock inspections hosted by sheriff’s office

WHITE CITY, ORE. — With spring just around the corner,it’s only a matter of time before boaters hit area lakes.

Sunday was the final day of a Jackson County dry dock inspection.

For the past two weekends, the sheriff’s office has been inspecting boats to make sure they are ready to hit the water.

“We try to talk to every boater, once a year to make sure they have the basic safety equipment required,” said Sgt. Shawn Richards.

200 boats were inspected over the two weekends.

Sgt. Richards says they will be at patrolled docks as the weather gets warmer to help inspect more boats.
