North Medford students making a difference

Medford, Ore. — North Medford students took to the streets Friday morning to make a difference in their community.

Students proclaimed it their first ever ‘Fresh Start Friday.’

It’s a new campaign aimed at making a difference every first Friday of the month.

Students took time during their lunch to help clean up Grandview Shopping Center.

“We were called out in the Mailtribune Letter to the Editor that says some people in the community would like to see North Medford students take up the responsibility of helping clean up Grandview Shopping Center,” said Matthew Mendenhall, a student at North Medford High School.

Students also wore red shirts in remembrance of Jared Ramirez-Ponce who died from cancer.

Ramirez-Ponce was part of Sparrow Club, an organization that helps sick kids and pairs them with a school where the students come together to offer friendship and support.
