Medford In-N-Out site plan approved

Medfored, Ore.(Update 3/06 5:26)– For the first time Friday we got a look at images of what the 301st In-N-Out Burger could look like here in Medford.

“We’re thrilled to be here and it looks like the city is happy to have us”

Representatives for In-N-Out like Ron Volle met with the Medford Site Plan and Architectural Commission to get the ball rolling on double doubles getting in the hands of Oregonians, sooner than later.

“Less than two years hopefully,” said Volle.

The commission is in charge of approving the burger joint’s site plan. A breakdown of how the location would look and where everything would go. The proposed medford restaurant would be 3,750 sqft, with a drive thru, 53 parking spaces, and 65 employees. But they can’t start construction just yet.

“It’s still with our technical people, working with staff and generating construction, drawings and going through some more hoops and formalities,” said Volle.

The commission voted unanimously to approve the plan with two conditions..One involving parking spaces and the other a side walk for pedestrians to cross over from the mall.

“It would be a mistake to put In-N-Out at that location”

Bob Rogers, a local resident, voiced his concern about the traffic the restaurant could bring to an already popular area at the intersection of Highways 62 and 99.

In response, the city’s traffic engineer said he doesn’t anticipate traffic being a problem beyond the opening week.

It’s still unclear when exactly the Shell gas station here will close. But we have heard from multiple sources that In-N-Out has purchased the property.

And they’re not wasting any time. They turned in their building plans immediately after getting site plan approval Friday.

Medford, Ore. — Medford looks like it’s headed to be home to Oregon’s first In-N-Out restaurant.

The city’s Site Plan and Architecural Commission unanimously approved the burger chain’s site plan Friday afternoon at city hall.

NBC5 News first told you about the California institutions interest in Medford last October. They’ve purchased the Shell gas station in front off the Rogue Valley Mall and intend to build on that site.

In-N-Out will still need a building permit before they’re able to break ground. They hope to open the restaurant later this year.
