Ashland Police invite children to Shop With a Cop

Medford, Ore. — More than a dozen kids took a special holiday shopping trip this morning with the help of Ashland police officers.

It was part of the Shop With a Cop event, held by the Ashland Police Department every year.

APD works with Saint Vincent de Paul to pair officers with children from families in need.

The kids and officers met at Walmart this morning with their wish lists, picking out what they’d like to see under the Christmas tree.

“Waking up on Christmas morning and looking at the presents that I got, even though I know what they are, I just like opening presents and looking at what I got,” said shopper Kaya Snyder.

Each kid had a budget of over 100 dollars.

Walmart and the Ashland Rotary both donated 1,000 dollars — the largest amount the event has ever seen.

This is the sixth year that APD has done a Shop With a Cop event.
