A Bill Goes Before Senate To Increase Maximum Fines For Texting And Driving

Texting behind the wheel could soon cost you $2000 if a bill presented by the House is approved this legislative session.

Two bills are being tossed around by lawmakers this morning, to put a hefty fine on texting and driving. Senate Bill 9 would increase the maximum penalty to $1000, and would require odot to put up signs about the new law.

Another bill on the House side, House Bill 27-90 would increase the maximum penalty to $2000.

This bill is on it’s way to the Senate Wednesday morning.
