The City of Ashland is drafting a neighborhood plan for 94 acres in the far corner of Ashland. It is the last parcel of developable land in the city’s urban growth boundary.
It centers around Normal Avenue north of the railroad tracks and borders East Main and Clay Street.
The initial proposal calls for 500 housing units, including multi-story apartment buildings.
Some neighbors in the area have concerns about both the density of the proposed housing development and the traffic. The city has been working with Portland-based planning firm Parametrix to draft a framework and the designer says a traffic study will be conducted.
Ashland Planning Commission will hold a study session on May 28th at 7 pm.
