Bird Calls and Gunshots Heard in Josephine County

Tonight the Josephine County Sheriff’s Office wants to warn residents about hearing bird calls in the middle of the night.

Sheriff’s deputies say three suspicious males have been “casing properties” at night.

According to law enforcement the three men use bird calls to communicate with each other.

The Sheriff’s Office says they want to make the public aware and want to remind residents to be conscious of their surroundings.

A cave junction woman is behind bars tonight, after she allegedly shot at two people she knew inside a pickup truck parked on her property.

Police say on Friday evening in the 800 block of Dick George Road, 44-year-old Robin Lavon Smith, fired three gun shots at the truck

The people weren’t injured, but one bullet killed a dog in the pickup bed.

Robin Smith is charged with two counts of first degree attempted assault, unlawful use of a firearm, and animal abuse in the first degree.
