Comic-con returns

(KNSD) San Diego’s Comic-Con International 2014 officially opens to fans on Thursday and organizers say it will be the epicenter of all things pop culture.

David Glanzer, Comic-Con’s Director of Marketing, says more than 130,000 fans are expected to attend the event at the San Diego Convention Center through Sunday.

That’s a long way from the 300 people that attended the original San Diego Comic-Con 45 years ago in the basement of the U.S. Grant Hotel.

“When we started 45 years ago, nobody ever envisioned this,” said Glanzer. “There’s so much going on here now – anything having to do with pop culture, this is the epicenter of it all for the next few days.”
