Exit 14 Construction Completed Overdue and Under Budget

Traffic in Ashland can now move smoothly since crews have finally wrapped up the exit 14 construction project, more than two years after work first began.

The overpass now has new traffic signals, bike lanes, lights, and a center turn lane for drivers headed to I-5.

The road work frustrated some gas station officials. They say now that construction is complete, traffic will soon pick up again.

“Business has slowed considerable, I mean we’ll spend two hours without a car in the mornings, but once everybody gets used to the median they’ll be able to make this an easier route.”

ODOT officials say while the project was delayed by about five months, the final cost of the overpass finished nearly one point nine million dollars under original estimates.
