Gov. Kitzhaber Reveals State Budget Plan

Governor John Kitzhaber is expected to reveal a new state budget plan, but it’s not coming without controversy.

The proposed state budget would allow schools to hire hundreds of additional teachers.

It would also end furlough days for state workers and boost spending for at-risk children and families.

There is already some controversy over the governor’s plan, and how he will come up with the funds.

In order for the plan to work, changes would have to be made to public pensions as well as Oregon’s prison sentencing.
