Holly Theater, It’s a Go!

Good news tonight for the Holly Theater in downtown Medford, organizers say restoration will be completed. The question remains… when

Tonight, Jefferson Public Radio Foundation board members decided to finish the Holly. However, they can’t start until they hire an Executive Director for their new namesake – Jefferson Live, which developed after mediation between them and SOU.

“At this point, the theater itself is in very good condition. The next step was for the agreement between Southern Oregon University and Jefferson Public Radio and the Foundation to come back with a plan and a new Executive Director to cover that,” Medford Mayor Gary Wheeler tells us.

“As soon as we hire the Executive Director then we will be looking to get back on the tracks, begin the fundraising program – because that’s a key part of that job – and commence the completion of the interior of the Holly,” JPR President Steve Nelson says.

Currently construction is stalled, but JPR President Steve Nelson says the organization is making first cuts for the executive director position in the next seven days.

Another JPR, now Jefferson Live project is still up in the air.

It’s that of the Jefferson Square project – just a few blocks from the Holly. The board still doesn’t know if they’ll complete that one.

“It would be a shame for it not to be completed. It’s a grand old building,” says Larson’s Furniture owner Bruce Larson. He previously donated the property to the JPR Foundation.
