Hundreds Of Open Letters Found Near Onion Mountain

Hundred of letters litter the landscape. It’s unclear if they were taken from mailboxes as part of an identity theft scam or if they were never delivered. But if you haven’t recievedyour mail recently, it could be near Onion Mountain.

Jordan and Michelle Wilson came to Onion Mountain for a day of relaxation Wednesday and found this instead.

The couple asked us not to show their faces on camera but said they were shocked by the discovery.

It’s not just the fact there are letters up here most of the letters seem to have been opened like bills and credit card offers meaning people information isn’t so private.

The Post Office won’t make a comment on the situation at this time other than telling us an investigation has been launched.

The couple collected as many letters as they could and turned it in to the Grants Pass post office.

The couple also tried filing a report with the city but they said it was a county jurisdiction. The Josephine County Sheriffs Office wasn’t much help either saying they’d transfer the case to the Bureau of Land Management, the owners of the land.

If you believe you may have been a victim of mail theft you can contact the post office on what steps you need to take.
