Jacksonville FD receives high rating for service to community

Jacksonville, Ore. — Homeowners in Jacksonville could be paying a little less for their homeowners insurance thanks to the work of their fire department.

Tuesday the Jacksonville Fire Department announced they received a rating of a two from the Insurance Service Office.

The ratings range from one, being the best, to ten , being the worst.

According to Jacksonville Fire Chief Devin Hull the ratings help define how well a department can serve it’s community, but can also provide cost savings to homeowners “With the new class 2 rating there’s about a 5 to 6 percent savings that’ll be directly passed on to those folks through their [homeowners] insurance premiums.”

Jacksonville is the first city south of Portland to accomplish a class two rating.

There are only 22 cities in Oregon with a class two rating, none with a class one.
