Japanese Students Visit Rogue Valley for Pacific Rim Bowl

Japanese students are in Southern Oregon for the 14th Pacific Rim Bowl. The 46 high school students are part of Japan’s All Star football team, which will face off with Ashland High School at the end of the week.

The students will compete in a number of sports throughout the week, getting to know Ashland’s football team. But this trip isn’t just about sports; They will also travel around the region.

“We came here to learn about American culture, as well as having a good competition with the guys, and exploring good comradery with them,” Ieda Taisei said, one of the visiting Japanese students.

The week will end with the football game, beginning at 7:30 PM on Friday at SOU’s Raider Stadium. A pre-game ceremony will begin at 7 PM.

This is the 27th year of the bi-annual competition between the two teams. Ashland’s team will travel to Japan in 2017 for the next Pacific Rim Bowl.
