“We raise chip potatoes down in the Merrill, Tulelake, Klamath Falls area.”
Nearly 400 cars were registered for this year’s Kruise. And behind every car, there’s a story – like the one behind Dave Evans’ 1962 Volkswagen. “Our family’s owned them for over 50 years. We’re from Germany, originally, and it’s just in the blood.”
This year’s ‘Kruise of Klamath’ also got a national boost through coverage on the syndicated series ‘My Classic Car’. It was enough of a draw to make James Hinton drive his Nash from Nampa, Idaho…
“This is my first time – and we saw it on SpeedVision, on TV – that’s how we got up here.”
This year’s ‘Show and Shine’ had a strong turnout, despite threatening skies over Moore Park.
“People are just going to take the chance, and that’s what it’s all about – that’s why we have chamois.” Noted Dave Evans.
James Hinton was counting on nice weather: “Aw, no – heck no! It’s not going to rain anymore! No! No!”
The ‘Kruise of Klamath’ began over 30 years ago, when a few friends gathered at a local drive-in to show off their classic cars.
