Amissing hunter is lucky to be alive after spending a night lost near Diamond Lake.
On Tuesday, Miguel Ruiz was reported missing by a fellow hunter.
He and his hunting partner split up the day before for a couple hours then were suppose to meet back up withGPS enabled radios.
During that time, Ruiz reported his GPS wasn’t working, and felt he was lost.
The next day, Ruiz was able to make contact with his radio search crews found him later on Tuesday.
Officials are urging hunters to be prepared, as the weather changes.
They say hunters should be equipped with the followingten essentials:
1. Map
2. Compass
3. Warm Clothing
4. Extra Food and Water
5. Flashlight or Headlamp
6. Matches/Fire starters
7. First Aid Kit/Repair Kit
8. Whistle
9. Rain/Wind Jacket & Pants
10. Pocket Knife
