Missing man with amnesia found safe in Josephine County

JOSEPHINE COUNTY, Ore. — The man missing out of Josephine County is safe tonight and back with his family.

Josephine County Sheriff’s Deputies say 25-year-old Michael Gazeley-Romney went missing yesterday afternoon around 2:30 from his father’s work site in the North Valley area of Josephine County.

Deputies say Gazeley-Romney has a medical condition that causes him to have amnesia.

Rafters on the Rogue River spotted him near the Rainbow Picnic area near Merlin Sunday afternoon.But when rescue teams got there it took them an hour and a half to get Gazeley-Romney to a safe area.

“The family described his condition as causing him to be like a child with autism or elderly person with alzheimers which makes him very easily panicked and scared,” Deputy Sheriff Cory Krauss said.

Deputies said when Gazeley-Romney saw crews he started climbing up the steep river bank and into the woods, but calmed down when his father was able to get to him.

JOSEPHINE COUNTY, ORE. –UPDATE: Gazeley-Romney has been found alive in remote Josephine County. OSP and Josephine County Sheriff’s have conducted rescue operations. He is safe.

The Josephine County Sheriff’s Office and Oregon State Police are asking for your help in locating 25 year old Michael Gazeley-Romney.

He reportedly has amnesia which causes him not to remember who he is.

Gazeley-Romney reportedly Wandered away from his father’s worksite near Merlin Saturday afternoon and hasn’t been seen since.

He was last seen wearing a purple shirt, blue pants and white shoes. He has an athletic build (5’11″/170 lbs), brown hair and blue eyes.
