New vaccination requirements begin March 1st

Medford, Ore.–A new law will go into effectSaturday, March 1st,which will require families who want to be exempt from vaccine shots to take extra steps.

Currently, Oregonfamilies can just opt out of vaccines but the new requirements mean those families now must sit with their doctors or watch an interactive online video which will explain the benefit of vaccines for certification.

Oregonhas the highest vaccine opt-out rates in the country at 5.9 percent.

The Oregon Pediatric Society says Cave Junction has a exemption rate of about 25 percent, leaving them more vulnerable to diseases.
