Oregon Health Care Funding Bill Passes in Senate

The Oregon Senate has passed a bill to fund the Medicaid package proposed by Governor John Kitzhaber.

The Senate passed House bill 2216B on a vote of 25 to 5.

The bill would bring nearly two billion federal dollars to the Oregon Health Plan.

Officials say with the added funds, another 300-thousand more people will be provided health care from the Oregon Health Plan.

The bill will now head to Governor Kitzhaber’s desk for a signature.
