Police Warn Against Possible Afordable Care Act Scams

Medford Police are issuing a warning: They’re concerned about possible scams generating from the Affordable Health Care Act, also known as “Obamacare,’ which went into affect this week.

Police say there are three things to look for:

-The government is not calling, e-mailing or knocking on doors.

-When you go online to sign up, make sure to go through a legitimate first party website, like Cover Oregon.

-There is no card to sign up for. Police say if someone is offering a card, it is not legitimate.

If you are approached with any of these offers, call police.
