Runaway Prevention Comes To The Forefront After Teen Runs From Home

AGrants Pass teen who ran away from home late last week was found safe sunday afternoon.

She is one of between 1.6 and 2.8 million youth who will run away this year.

From a bad home environment to a victim of bullying, there are many reasons that youth decide to runaway.

But there is one big key to help preventing a child from leaving home.

Rauschert’s mother says her daughter was a victim of bullying, something both the family and her school were trying to resolve.

According to Ryan Marrs from ‘Hearts with a Mission’ the reasons youth run away differs on a case by case basis.

However, Marrs says runaway prevention all comes down to one key element, communication.

‘Hearts with a Mission’ is one organization that opens their doors to youth who feel they need an escape, offering counseling sessions to help them find their way back to their families.

As for Sasha and her mom continue working with her school and on their communication, so that sasha doesn’t feel the need to run away from her problems.
