Deputy State Medical Examiner Dr. James Olson doesn’t know how Kaelin Glazier died.
“We just don’t know what type of homicidal violence type or types was used.”
Dr. Olson said it’s unlikely Glazier died of a gunshot wound, but he said blunt force trauma to the head, asphyxiation, and stabbing were possibilities.
He noted in particular an injury to one of Glazier’s right ribs.
“It is a very shallow sharp force injury to the inside of the right rib.”
But due to the lack of soft tissue, Dr. Olson admitted under cross examination that he can’t say for sure how Glazier died.
“No, I don’t know how you could what we’re given.”
Earlier in the day we heard emotional testimony from the defendant’s mother Barbara Simmons–telling prosecutors she will not go to jail for her son.
Ms. Simmons isn’t it true, that you would lie to protect your son
No, I’m not going to lie to protect my son. I’m not going to jail… and I’m not lying now.
Moments later though District Attorney Mark Huddleston said she lied to cops years ago about her son’s whereabouts during the Glazier investigation.
“You knew he was there”
“Yes.”
“You told police he wasn’t there”
“I told them that…yes.”
Barbara Simmons said Kaelin Glazier was at her home on November 6th 1996 in Ruch… the night she was last seen before her body was discovered years later across the street in a field.
Simmons testified that her son William said Glazier left their home that night.
“Kaelin went to church to meet her mom.”
Barbara Simmons said William then set up the vcr to watch a movie with his grandfather… she then went to bed.
