Six Arrests Made at Super 8 Motel

Six people were arrested Saturday evening at the Super 8 Central Point/Medford motel at 4999 Biddle Road, authorities confirmed.

It all started around 8:30 when a Sheriff’s deputy saw a stolen vehicle in the Super 8 parking lot. That’s when authorities say a man and woman jumped out of the car and ran into the hotel. Soon after, police surrounded the building and put it on lockdown.

Deputies checked the list of guest names and determined that the female, Brittany Ortiz was associated with a suspect who was wanted on federal charges. Authorities believed the man wanted by U.S. Marshals was possibly armed, so they called in help from Medford, Central Point, and Oregon State Police as well as a Medford K-9 unit.

Police say the suspects were on the second floor. The first room authorities looked in was not the right one, however deputies found two people who were wanted on different charges. They were arrested. A Jackson County Sheriff’s Deputy said they simply stumbled upon the couple.

Police finally located the suspects associated with the stolen car. According to authorities they had barricaded themselves inside their room. Hotel guests were evacuated from the surrounding rooms. Other guests on the second floor were told to stay inside and lock their doors. A number of the guests at the hotel are youth from a local basketball tournament.

Deputies were able to find a way through the door and arrested the alleged driver of the stolen car, Juvenal Vega. Authorities also arrested Robert Powelson, the man they say is wanted by U.S. Marshals. Officials say Miguel Delfin and Brittany Ortiz were also taken into custody.

According to police it’s believed they also found Meth and other pills, though further testing is needed to officially confirm.

The ordeal lasted from 8:30 until around 11:40 Saturday evening.

All six people arrested have been taken to the Jackson County Jail.
