Talks on a Proposed Medford Casino Continue Thursday

A proposed casino in Medford is in the spotlight again, as talks continue on Thursday.

The Cow Creek Tribe will present their side to the Jackson County Commissioners.

They say a casino in Medford would mean $22 million less going to Oregon schools, economic development and environmental projects.

Meanwhile, the Coquille tribe made their formal presentation to the Commissioners earlier this week.

The tribe says a casino would bring money and about 233 jobs to the area.

Meanwhile, in a meeting on Tuesday, Medford City Council members expressed concern over the proposal.

They say it would mean loss of control by the council and the city fathers, as it would be sovereign land.

The Medford City Council is continuing their discussion over the proposed casino Thursday night.

The meeting will be held at City Hall, starting at 7 P.M.

Public input will be taken.
