Timber Tax Payments To Be Held By BLM

Fourmillion dollars is being held back from Southern Oregon Timber Counties, by theUS Bureau of Land Management.

The money is 10percent of a special 38 million dollar payment the BLM owes to 18 counties.

The payments are supposed to make up for reduced logging receipts. Officials say the funds are being held back to create a safety net, in case other federal budget cuts go through.

TheBLM payment was supposed to go through tomorrow and there is no word just yet on when counties can expect the money.
