Trail Bridge Installed

A bridge is now in place that will provide an important link to a trail system in Klamath Falls.

The bridge was trucked into an area just east of Veteran’s Memorial Park.

Ken Hay of the Klamath Falls Parks Department says he’s excited about the installation…

“This bridge is really the first significant start of the Lake Ewauna trail.”

As a light rain fell, the bridge was gingerly lifted by crane over a swale leading to the north edge of Lake Ewauna. When completed, Hay notes that the trail will provide an important non-motorized link to the downtown area…

“This trail is part of a future trail system, connecting the OC&E trails, the Link River trails, the Moore Park trails – more than 150, 160 miles of trails.”

The trail is being built through the site of the former Modoc Lumber Company.

“The trail should be open to the public, hopefully, within about two years.” Noted Hay.

That timing will hinge on the development of adjacent properties.
