U.S. Senate Approves Legislation To Avoid Government Shutdown

In Washington, the U.S. Senate has approved legislation to avoid a government shutdown next week.

The measure would provide nearly $1 trillion for federal agencies to remain in operation through the end of September.

The house is expected to sign-off on the measure as early as Thursday.

The law would then head to the White House for President Obamas signature.
