Wildfire Season Over For Jackson County

On Tuesday the Oregon Department of Forestry declared the official end to this years fire season in Jackson County.

That means thatopen and barrel burnings are now legal.

However there are designated burn daysand a number of restrictions to help the air quality.

The county has issued four guidelines to follow if you plan on burning anything.

First, you must obtain a permit from your local fire department.

Second,call the open and barrel burn advisory everyday before you burn anything. The Burn Advisory Hotline is 541-776-7007.

Third, you must determine if you are inside of the air quality maintenance area. If you are unsure of the AQMA boundaries you can call 541-774-8207.

Finally never burn any prohibited materials including garbage, plastic, automobile parts, or

petroleum products just to name a few.
