National Fire Week Prevention officials tell us that candles, while beautiful and decorative, can also cause house fires.
TheNFPA says that from 2006 to 2010, over 11-thousand house fires started from candles. causing 126 deaths.
The Douglas County Fire Prevention Co-Op reminds users to:
–cut the wick to 1 quarter inch before lighting…
–keep lit candles at least one foot away from anything flammable…
–always use a holder to catch dripping wax…
–and always blow candles out completely.
