Eagles flock to Nooksack river

12.26 EAGLES(KING) More than 150 bald eagles have converged on a small stretch of Washington’s Nooksack River.

The eagles frequent the area each winter to feed on salmon.

Photographer Kamriell Welty, her husband and 3-year-old daughter were on their way up to Mount Baker on Monday afternoon to sled and ski and pulled over to photograph the bald eagles.

“Once we got home that evening I uploaded the photos and zoomed in on each tree and counted every eagle, marking them off as I went. We counted twice and came up with 153 eagles both times!” she said.
