Flash Flood Warnings

Wet weather is on the horizon. Northern California and Southern Oregon are expecting a soggy weekend that lasts till Thanksgiving, prompting officials to warn for flooding.

The National Weather Service has issued a hydrologic outlook that calls for the potential of flash floods in many parts of our region over the next 7 days.

That can cause concern for Ashlander’s near the lower part of the creek.

“Right now, the reservoir isn’t full yet, and even a lot of rain won’t fill it, but we’ll keep an eye things and if it does start to fill we’ll pay closer attention,” says Ashland Public Works Superintendent Mike Morrison.

Officials also tell us at this point, the Ashland Reservoir is still less than 70 percent full.

Areas within the warnings include Coos, Curry, Douglas, and even Josephine county.

Meteorologists say the bulk of the precipitation should arrive the beginning of next week.
