(KING) For as long as “Chris” can remember, gender has been an issue. Born a girl, it was a daily battle just to put on a dress.
“I used to rip them up. I would cut them. My mom would have to bribe me to wear them,” Chris said.
He’s in transition from female to male, and lives as a boy.
To protect his privacy the teen asked that we not use his real name.
For Chris, growing up as a girl was hell, and he has the scars to prove it. In middle school he began cutting himself to alleviate the mental anguish he was suffering.
“It was chaos. I was arguing with myself. I was a girl but I didn’t feel like it. I had issues with accepting myself and issues with self-harm,” he said.
