KOBI-TV/NBC5 Honored with 2023 Emmy Citation Nomination

KOBI-TV/NBC5, along with several community partners, proudly announce the opioid/prescription drug awareness campaign, If Not Now, When? has been nominated for an Emmy® Citation for Community Outreach from the Northwest Chapter of the National Television Arts and Sciences.

NBC5 and the Jackson County Health Department, Josephine County Prevention Treatment Services Team, along with the Cities of Medford, Grants Pass, and Central Point, sought to educate viewers on how to start a conversation about the dangers of opioids.
The title, “If Not Now, When?” is the second half of a question NBC5 posed to the members of the communities we serve: “When is the best time to talk about the deadly impact of opioids? If not now, when?”

Bob Wise, Vice President/General Manager of KOBI-TV/NBC5 and KOTI-TV/NBC2 said, “What started out as an urgent plea to parents to talk with their kids about fentanyl is now real-life instructional messaging about prescription drugs. We can’t thank our community partners enough for their guidance in helping us shape and distribute this life-saving message.”
Emmy® winners will be announced June 1st in Seattle.

If Not Now, When? is sponsored by our partners: Jackson County Health and Human Services, Josephine County Prevention, and the cities of Medford, Grants Pass and Central Point.
