Medford, Ore. –  Christmas came early for some senior citizens in the Rogue Valley. Home Instead Senior Care is wrapping up their annual “Be a Santa for a Senior” program. Today they delivered gifts to some unsuspecting seniors at Ross Knott Retirement Center.

“I’m down in the dumps right now cause my family is somewhere else and this cheers me on,” said resident Donna Lanz.

Acting as Santa’s little helpers volunteers delivered presents to senior citizens Sunday afternoon in Medford. The gifts were bought by people in the community for seniors who may need a little holiday pick me up.

“We get the names from seniors from community organizations or people we work with. They might have family out of state or not at all so we just want to make sure they enjoy the holiday season too,” said Home Instead Franchise Owner Indra Nicholas.

But it’s about more than just the presents.

“It’s more seeing people having the contact with someone and giving that hug,” she said.

Just that knock on their door and knowing someone was thinking of them really helps bring cheer to their holidays.
