Our cameras were rolling as 37 year old Kelly Calcaterra was arrested on a warrant in connection with unlawfully manufacturing, delivering, and possessing heroin.
Shortly after 12:30Thursday afternoon, Grant Pass police stormeda house on Oakview street.
“Several detectives and patrol units showed up, surrounded the place, and Mr. Calcaterra was taken into custody without inncident,” said detective Dan Evans of Grants Pass Public Safety.
It’s not the first time this home has been raided.
Last summer we reported the home was raided three times.
Community members say enough is enough.
“It was like a fast food restaurant drive through, it was non-stop, it was very busy. And everyone was getting concerned,” said resident Danny Perez.
Danny Perez is the head of Oakview street’s neighborhood community watch program.
He and other neighbors have been trying to clean up their street for more than a year but it’s slow going.
“We have no idea what they are doing at night. We hear cars, we hear people coming up and what’s the next step,” said Perez.
Others remain in the house where one man was arrested Thursday, which neighbors say has a steady stream of drug buyers and sellers—the worst part according to neighborhood watch is that it’s a foreclosed home and the people living there are squatting.
Foreclosed homes are often the target for crimes including copper theft, and will often house squatters.
According to the Portland Business Journal there are currently an estimated 11,000 foreclosed homes in Oregon.
