Drive-By Shooting in West Medford

Tonight police say they are on the hunt for people involved in a drive-by shooting in West Medford.

NBC-5’s Christine Pitawanich visited the neighborhood today and brings us the story.

Residents on the 15-hundred block of Bryant street — just off Columbus — say they’re feeling uneasy in their neighborhood tonight.

“I don’t feel safe, definitely not feeling safe.”

“There has been a lot of crime. I want to see it stop”

Unsettled after witnesses say a single gunshot rang out around five Friday evening. According to police, witnesses saw a silver Honda Civic 4-door with five people inside, stop on Bryant street. The front passenger pointed a small gun at a man on the sidewalk, then fired one round toward the ground. Then, a neighbor says…

“I saw a car zooming down, got to the stop sign then made a right hand turn.”

Police say no one was hurt and they’re still looking for all the people involved including the man on the sidewalk, but one detail sticks out.

“It’s reported a lot of them were wearing red inside the vehicle, possibly gang ties to it, but that’s been unconfirmed.”

Tthat piece of information, concerning residents on this block a bit more.

“It’s not the same town I grew up in, that’s for sure.”

Police say they’re looking for a suspect who is possibly a hispanic male in his late teens to early twenties.

He was last seen wearing a black baseball cap and striped shirt with light facial hair.

The car is described as an early 2000’s silver Honda Civic 4-door.
