Exclusive: Another Victory for Former County Cop

It’s a another victory for Jacob Franklin.

“The ultimate goal was to get my name cleared as far as the background investigation and that’s done,” said Jacob Franklin.

The former county cop won a wrongful termination lawsuit against Jackson County last year.

In addition to a hefty $200,000.00 judgement, the county was also required to destroy documents related to an internal affairs report.

Officials say the information on the report was false and put Franklin in a negative light.

But the report wasn’t destroyed. It was actually forwarded to the Department of Public Safety Standards and training also known as “DPSST.”

Because the agency is a state agency, they did not have to comply with the judge’s original order because it was directed toward the county.

“I’d like to be working but i lost that battle i think with the job market,” explained Franklin.

DPSST will destroy the documents but it won’t necessarily mean Franklin will be able to secure a job in the state.

He says he’s been on more than 25 interviews for police jobs throughout Oregon.

He’s been rejected from every vacancy for which he’s interviewed.
