FAA Tower Closures Are Expected Today

Final word should come today from theFAA on which airport control towers will be closed.

The closings come with the loss of about $600 million dollars due to sequestration cuts at the FAA.

The agency released a list of nearly 200 towers facing potential closure last month giving airport managers time to submit arguments for keeping them open.

The affected towers will be at airports with fewer than 150,000 flight operations or 10,000 commercial operations a year.
