Halloween Festivities Underway

It’s still a few days away, but Ashland showed it’s Halloween spirit today at the 5th annual Monster Dash for Education…

Hundreds gathered to run at Lithia Park for either a mile, 5k, or 10k.

Many of them dressed up in all types of costumes.

“Everyone is in a good mood, and everyone’s excited to be here. It’s contagious, I feel like I’m in a good mood now too.”

“Running it in costume; you can do a race, but when you do a race and everyone’s in costumeit’s way more fun.”

The run was organized by the Ashland Kiwais club and leading sponsor, Yogurt Hut. The money raised helps benefit the Ashland Schools Foundation.

And here in Medford even local dogs got in the spooky spirit at the first S.O. Humane Pets on Parade at Bear Creek Park.

Dogs and their owners dressed up in costume and marched in the doggy parade along with the 15 members of the North Medford band.

“We receive so much from this community, and they are so good to us at the Southern Oregon Humane Society, that we looked for an event that we could give something back to really provide an opportunity for people and their pets to come out together and celebrate as families.”

Prizes were awarded for the most scary, creative, and cutest pet combo.
