Holiday Hiring Gears Up

It’s that time of year again. The holidays are on the horizon and that means hiring is on the rise.

To make sure they’re ready for the shopping frenzy, many employers in the Rogue Valley — including Harry and David — are bringing on more seasonal workers.

Staff say they’re expecting another busy holiday season.

In fact, according to Harry and David officials, they’re actually hiring more people than they did last year. It’s an effort to make sure they cater to holiday shoppers.

“We are hiring like mad. We have about 330 jobs in our call center that we are hiring in the next two weeks, we have shifts that are 5 and 8 hours long,” said Pam Turay, Senior Vice President of Human Resources at Harry and David.

She said they also have another 163 jobs open in their distribution centers and they say they need more applicants. It’s no surprise as November is the biggest month for holiday hiring statewide.

Starting next week, people can walk in and apply on-the-spot at the Harry and David employment center located at 2800 South Pacific Highway. It will be open from 8am-5pm.

Harry and David officials said phone and customer service skills are a big plus.
